A Taste of Raku and Throwing

Service Description

The day is designed to combine the two most popular elements of Potterydayz courses and the well known television programme - "The Pottery Throwdown". These are Raku pottery firing and Throwing on the potters wheel. Although no experience is needed for the day a keen interest in the Craft is welcomed. This is only available for adults. The day begins with glazing instructions for the pots to be Raku fired. Whilst the glazes are drying on the pots a demonstration of wheel throwing will be given. Students on the course will then be supported over an approximate period of two hours whilst trying their hand at the craft. The afternoon is given over to the Firing process. It is hoped that each person will leave with two finished Raku fired pots. The cost of the workshop also includes a return trip to decorate the best of their wheel thrown pots.
